As of 2016, I joined Hyatt as an editor for the strategy side of the Digital Content team. I couldn’t be happier to work on a variety of projects focused on destinations around the world, including writing content-rich landing pages, editing full hotel site content, managing relationships with agency partners and a team of freelance writers, and developing the content strategy for 700+ hotels around the world.
Founded by Gapers Block alumni, Third Coast Review serves to promote Chicago’s art and culture scene in a curated format. I was the Music Editor from January 2016 through February 2018, when I oversaw a talented staff of writers and worked with a variety of press outlets. I’m also a staff writer, writing for various sections like Music and Beyond.
As the editor for the music (Transmission) section, appointed in July of 2015 and going until December 31, 2015 when Gapers Block went on hiatus, I oversaw a talented team of staff writers and assisted as a mentor for cultivating content, answering questions, and submitting press requests. I worked closely with venues, press contacts, and artists directly to supply the site with ample coverage and a diverse array of content. Monthly, Gapers Block averaged over 100,000 visits, with approximately 70,000 unique visitors and 200,000 page views each month. We have over 26,400 dedicated Twitter followers, and 11,600 Facebook fans, as well as had 4,500 subscribers to our weekly newsletter, I ✶ Chi.
As the Web Content Coordinator at Preferred Hotels & Resorts in 2015, I assisted our 750+ member hotels from around the world with a variety of content and imagery requests for the Preferred Hotels, iPrefer, Preferred Family, Preferred Golf, and Historic Hotels websites. For the implementation process of new properties, I wrote complete content and chose best fit imagery for each of the website’s sections on Preferred Hotels and iPrefer, referring to style guidelines always. I also assisted with company-wide rebranding efforts that culminated in a brand new website in March of 2015.
As the Namas Bar Namas Blogger, I assist with writing health and wellness blog posts to promote Namas Bar, a one-of-a-kind nutrition bar that utilizes a recipe combining modern day superfoods with Ayurvedic ingredients. A local Chicago business, Namas Bar supplies a meal to those in need in the country of Zambia with each bar purchased through a partnership with Health Hope in Zambia and Matter More.
At Park Hyatt Chicago, I co-managed social media platforms and created content for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and WordPress for Park Hyatt Chicago, NoMI Kitchen, and NoMI Spa. I also wrote public relations pieces including press releases, event recaps, and marketing verbiage. When projects arose, I chose appropriate content and imagery to promote the hotel within press outlets.
A passion project dreamt up by my brother, Matt Brooks, and I, Jambrosis focused on our share of musical opinion, spanning decades and genres, exposing readers to new playlists, bands they’ll love, and thoughtful criticisms. We focused on a diverse range of musical styles from 2014 through 2016.
I began writing for the Gapers Block music (Transmission) section, where I wrote various articles each month focused on Chicago’s music scene. These included concert reviews, previews, festival reviews, artist interviews, special events, and much more. I also contributed to the art & culture (A/C) section.
During my time at CCAC, an organization that does such amazing work for Chicago and beyond, I assisted with the creation of public relations media as well as the content and design for newsletters, fundraising development letters, and event invitations.
I helped to manage the Twitter and Facebook accounts for Chicago’s 39th Annual Fiesta Del Sol, the largest Latino festival in the midwest, located in Pilsen. I worked to engage the public regarding the festival’s many offerings, including the dynamic House of Sol music festival.
