“Happiness is the consequence of personal effort. You fight for it, strive for it, insist upon it, and sometimes even travel around the world looking for it. You have to participate relentlessly in the manifestations of your own blessings.”
―Elizabeth Gilbert

I set an intention to learn new things and grow this year, and so far, my intention has been returned to me tenfold. I completed training to become a CHIRP (Chicago Independent Radio Project) radio DJ, despite having any prior production training. Thank you to Shawn, Mike, Amelia, and everyone who trusted in me to learn this new skill and share some of my favorite songs over the airwaves.

In May, I embarked on a 16-day road trip with my oldest friend. We began in Charleston, South Carolina, and flew home from Portland, Maine. The conversations we had, the people we met, the places we saw—I’ll never forget them. I’m planning to write a book about the experience, because I realized how important it is to be present, intentional with regard to how we spend our time, and filled with wonder, always.

And then there’s my playlist project. So far, I’ve sent out 14 newsletters for The Sounds She Collected. Every week, I curate a themed playlist and send out a note to accompany it. I’m really proud of this project and future collaborations that will be a part of it, so stay tuned for more, and sign up for your weekly dose of music here.

I’m continuing to challenge myself to learn, create, and diversify my writing portfolio, and will be sharing this with you all. Until then, I hope you find wonder in every day, too.
